Cast Your Vote! The Polls are Open for the 2015 Janitor of the Year Contest

CINCINNATI – [March 23, 2015] –From the dancing janitor to the custodian who opens the school early to provide homeless students with a warm place to stay before class, to the college “mom,” to the man who drives past the school on nights and weekends to make sure it’s secure, these are only four of the top 10 amazing finalists named in the 2015 Janitor of the Year Contest. Sponsored by Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS), the Janitor of the Year Contest shines a spotlight on those who work behind the scenes year-round to make schools a clean, safe and positive place. Now it’s time for you to cast your vote for this year’s winner.

“We received nominations for hundreds of amazing janitors across the nation who go above and beyond every day to help make their schools a better place,” said Dave Mesko, Senior Director of Marketing, Cintas Corp. “These 10 finalists truly are standouts – not only because they do their jobs well, but because they do it with kindness, selflessness and a smile.”

The 2015 Janitor of the Year will receive a $2,500 cash prize along with $2,500 in products and services for his or her school from Cintas and Rubbermaid Commercial Products– not to mention bragging rights. The top 10 finalists are:

  3. Kenny Bruce – Alden Road Exceptional Student Center (Jacksonville, Fla.)
  4. Les Chapman – Peach Plains Elementary School (Grand Haven, Mich.)
  5. Mack Jackson – Washington Elementary STEAM Magnet (San Diego)
  6. Bobby Miller – Sharon Elementary School (Charlotte, N.C.)
  7. Luis Cruz Rodriguez – Westminster Community Charter School (Buffalo, N.Y.)
  8. Cedric Stroy – Carter G. Woodson Elementary (Jacksonville, Fla.)
  9. Dave Terbush – Dakota Valley Elementary School (Aurora, Colo.)
  10. Barbara Watson – Pinewood Elementary School (Charlotte, N.C.)

Cintas Shines a Spotlight on School Janitors during Nationwide Contest

Know an amazing janitor? Cintas’ second-annual Janitor of the Year contest kicks off Feb. 9

CINCINNATI – [Feb. 9, 2015] –Do you know a janitor who works tirelessly to keep school grounds clean and safe for students, administration and staff? Want to show them some love? Starting today, Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) will once again hold a nationwide Janitor of the Year contest to recognize the best-of-the-best amongst school janitors. Created to shine a spotlight on those who work behind the scenes year-round to make schools a clean, safe and positive place, the contest will award $2,500 to the winning janitor and $2,500 in Cintas and Rubbermaid products and services to the school.

“Janitors are as much a part of the school experience as are teachers and peers,” said Dave Mesko, Senior Director of Marketing and Strategy at Cintas. “With this contest, we hope to highlight the important work they do each day in keeping the school environment a clean and safe place for our children to learn.”

After receiving more than 30,000 votes during last year’s contest, Patrick Peterson of North Valleys High School (NVHS) in Reno, Nevada was crowned the winner. Peterson accepted his award during a special ceremony held in the NVHS auditorium – complete with student-made signs, a special cheer squad performance and an honor guard ceremony.

Cintas’ Janitor of the Year contest is open to all elementary, middle, high school and university janitors who have worked at their school for at least two years. Nominations must be 1,000 words or less on why the janitor is deserving of the award.

Nominations will be accepted online at www.cintas.com/janitoroftheyear and via e-mail at [email protected] through March 9. The top 10 finalists will be announced on March 23, at which time public voting will be opened until May 1.
